usb cable seems to have fixed it, i guess the bad cable wasn't letting the phone/laptop read each other and not identifying files that were there, hence the screenshot errors, not sure on that theory though

only issue is still get read errors after some bu's

and sometimes it takes one or two tries to get file check to be ok

but neither have effected roms or transfers, maybe they are just common place

Yes, but to make sure everything works out smoothly, format all partitions (except sdcard) inside recovery before you change hboot!

If you are using cmtd, also make sure you format all partitions except sdcard in recovery, then apply your cmtd settings, reboot recovery and again format all partitions.

You would make a killing with 4EXT on the Asus Transformer.
They have a CWM "touch" version but I wouldn't touch it. (no pun intended)
