Rooting

I was having problems with my device, with some widgets not working, some apps keep force closing, so I turned to unroot and rooting back my device. It's been two days and I've been struggling. Long story short, my device is S-OFF, radio 2.15.10.07.28, and version 2.2. I went into settings, and ugpraded to 2.3.4, but it doesn't show in the "about phone". Not sure if that even went through. So now, I'm not even sure if my phone is rooted, if the version is right, or even it can be rooted. Help?

If your s-off just flash clockwork mod recovery thru hboot. Then flash su (superuser) thru recovery. Then boot the phone and install busybox from the market. Then you will be rooted if your not already. Then you can flash a rom or restore a backup.

When I try to get to clockwork mod recovery, it shows a red triangle.

That is the stock recovery. If your s-off flash cwm thru hboot as a PB31IMG.zip. If not s-off you must obtain it, or htcdev upgrade and unlock your bootloader, and then fastboot flash cwm recovery.

Okay so I installed CWM 5.0.2.0 through hboot PB31IMG.zip. When it was done, and I rebooted my phone, the screen was black. Thought maybe the phone was off, so I turned it on and waited and it was still black. The splash screen boot logo shows HTC INCREDIBLE, but after that, just turns black.. I can get into CWM again no problem..Also, when it turns on, on my computer screen, I get a popup showing that I need to format my drive. When I do try to format it, it says it's protected..

As to the formating thing, do you know if its the emmc or sdcard? Try taking the sdcard out of the phone and using a pc and a card reader to see if you can format it.

Not sure why the screen goes black after the splash. Since you can access recovery, have you tried doing a backup, wiping everything in mounts and storrage except emmc and sdcard, and then flashing a rom and seeing if it boots.

So from my last post, I unrooted, S-ON and back at 2.3.4. Not sure what steps to take to get my phone to root. I have tried to follow the steps on

but this method just eff's me up before I downgrade..
