why? to use this awesome mod with stock rom!

so now the mod is usable on stock roms without using a custom or deodexed rom

i added a revert to stock zip in case anything goes wrong

just flash with CWM but remember, only with odex stock rom!

if you don't know what odex means or not use a custom rom, this is the version for you!

edit: download should be fixed! recent version coming, had the wrong zip file

would this step by step posthttp://www.guidingtech.com/10821/dis...itcher-button/ work with your flashable zip or not , because i can't get to understand the steps in the first pst

Hi, I am running 1.28.709.9 Stock-rooted Odexed ROM, I tried using the Odexed-Recent-Menu versions of this 3-dot removal and have gotten my One x stuck at boot screen. Had to do a Nandroid restore to bring the phone back. Has anyone tried this mod successfully on 1.28.709.9? Would appreciate any info about making this mod work on my One x, really hate the 3-dots.... Thanks all!

Wink the Window-Switcher Key (right one)

Hi,thank you for your great work, but
i have a question,"The Window-Switcher Key (right one) will be remapped to the Menu button"....but i like the Window-Switcher Key (right one)((,many apps now support android4.0 and have the Window-Switcher Key (right one)...so,would you tell me how to change this,or could you build a new zip support this? thank you very much!!!!!!!

The Window-Switcher Key (right one) will be remapped to the Menu button. This key will be usable system-wide!

**update** The recent app's key is remapped to long-pressing home
**update #2** I've made a cleaner removal of the 3-dot menu;
-> the screen-overlay is now fully usable
-> the keyboard has the arrow-keys
-> no more changes to SystemUI.apk, the zip includes the stock version now
**update #3** by popular request of the i-want-to-long press-home-as-menu fanboys, i've made a zip, fullscreen-v2-lp_home_menu.zip
it contains stock qwerty.kl & stock SystemUI.apk

**update #4** support for 1.28.401.9
**update #5** Added Aroma installer

Root is required, duh

Use on deodexed ROM's based on 1.26.x or 1.28.x only (tested on 1.26.401.2 & 1.28.401.9)

Use the attached aroma installer (all versions included, 1.26/1.28/stock) with CWM recovery OR the following instructions [do not flash the non-aroma zip's with CWM!]

1) download the attached zip (fullscreen.zip, stock.zip is to revert to stock)
2) extract the attached zip
3) mount the system partition read/write
Code:
adb remount
or
Code:
adb shell sysrw
4) put the 2 files to the phone
Code:
adb push android.policy.jar /system/framework/
adb push qwerty.kl /system/usr/keylayout/
reboot & enjoy! (first boot may take a while)

There are some re-odexed zip's here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=279

p.s. if you'd like to revert to stock, use stock.zip (1.26.401.2/1.28.401.9)

I have sent a PM to blubbers, so sorry if you reply to that before this gets a response ( i couldnt post on this forum as i didnt have enough posts yet)

I am interested in helping out with this mod as i have noticed alot of people requesting a search button. This is a massive want of mine aswell.

I believe the best configuration would be

Back:
SP Back
LP Kill App (force kill one of the desire roms did this)

Home:
SP Home
LP RApps

RecApps:
SP Menu
LPSearch

A quick pointer in the right direction so i can start having a go at this, (if only for myself). I think this configuration would keep most users happy as it allows them to do everything.

Has anyone managed to get the "long press home = menu" version to keep the keyboard arrows? It works for "long press recent apps = menu" versions.

Maybe someone can help me to understand this. Why does everyone seem to want to make the multitasking harder to get to by making it a long press on home? Doesn't everyone use multitasking more often than menu?
