I'm currently using M2Ginger 4 (gingerbread 2.3.6), and I don't know which version I got to flash, the one with the european kernel or the one with the chinese?? Thank you
Another nice surprise, the compass works in google maps now.
The compass image turns green during calibration, but I can't confirm the calibration. There is no message or button to save. In stock firmware, the calibration process was two-fold, first with the keyboard closed, then with the keyboard open.
In ICS, it never finishes the first step, so I never reach the second step of calibration. Can anyone confirm?
Indeed, the compass does seem to work fine in google maps now. That's the first thing I noticed.
I think when the compass turns green, that is when it is calibrated. Isn't it?
Sahil
Nexus 4
ROM - Paranoid Android Apr 08
Other phones - Motorola Milestone 2 | HTC HD2
I actually never calibrated the compass before... But it indeed only needs to happen once. When it turns green I don't get an option to safe. So I assumed the Back button does that.
Beautiful, smooth performance, good battery life. It feels so good to be *completely* rid of MotoBlur!
Managed to take some photos and record a brief (3-second) 480p video (followed by a crash ) - Upgraded from stock UK Gingerbread, with full wipe. My Stone has never felt so snappy and refreshed! Huge kudos for working on this. I'm interested in merging sources.
Observations:
* Trebuchet launcher seems a bit unstable.
* Choosing dialler -> contacts shows very large contacts at the top of the list. How do I get rid of these huge faces?
* Very fast, stable ROM with no MotoBlur :)
* Still camera is stable, video recording definitely not so. 720p is not working at all.
HUGE PROBLEM: When making a call, the phone shows 'connected' and then immediately drops back to dialler without ringing-through. When receiving a call, phone rings and shows 'connected' and remains that way, but I cannot hear other person and they cannot hear me.
You don't have to, but the camera app will crash when switching to video recording mode and probably other undesirable things will happen (I also couldn't access Google Play, had to get the goomanager app, download the latest ICS gapps and install them), so it's strongly recommended to do a full wipe.

Theoretically yes, but I somehow don't trust that process is actually finished when it does turn green. In stock GB, I remember clearly there being a second step of calibration launched automatically after the first one when it tells you to open the keyboard and calibrate again. If you open the keyboard in ICS on your own after the image turns green you will never be able to calibrate the thing, trust me I've tried...

Did you do a complete wipe? I'm having no such problems with calling. The only thing everyone needs to do is switch Caller ID to visible somewhere in the dialer options, so that whenever you make a call, the real contact shows up on the screen, instead of "Unknown".
Trebuchet does seem a little bit unstable, but you can easily switch to Apex or Nova. Both highly recommended.
Huge faces are from your "Starred in Android" contact group. Just go to https://www.google.com/contacts on your computer, log in to your google account and start moving things around.
720p recording will not work. Hopefully "yet" and not "never", without going into technical details. ICS changed things around, proprietary libraries, no specs - things do look grim, but I've heard Moto Defy people figured it out, haven't they?
i note some little problems this we while i'm using this rom :
as i said data connection is lost when i'm switching emitters (orange to free in france) the data signal is note as 3g but in grey and i cannot get a web page.
a little problem is tts don't work when i use my car support. when the phone is not on the car support, tts works fine but when i put on it tts stop working (no voice on maps nav!)
that's all for the moment, i install the new version from the 30/04 and i will see if some problems was solved and i return.

You could try switching basebands, although I'm not sure if this is going to help anything. Get the Milestone2ToolBox, go to Baseband Switching Tools. I'm not responsible for the inevitable mess this is going to cause
As for the docking issue, just go to Settings -> Dock while docked and you can force undock. There is also an option for routing audio via the dock, but I've no clue what that does for our phone, try switching this on or off.
