Since this thread came out we have bigger batteries and bigger batteries that still fit in the stock case.

1) Can any of these batteries combine with this?
2) Does the phone switch off when switching over to the external battery?
3) Can you leave it on all the time and charge both batteries by plugging in once overnight?

Went on a sailing trip... backup phone got dunked and the i9000 ran out of battery! Recommend carrying a backup phone too!

Bitmit is like ebay Refer to each phone by it's model name where possible - i.e. "i9000", not "Galaxy S"

It's a bit ugly IMO, specially the samsung labeled part at the top... are the extra hours really worth it?

Ok mine has arrived. Mixed feelings.
The main thing I didn't expect is that the bottom pops down to get it on the phone.

Pros:
- it saves the charging port from breaking
- you can combine it with sleek replacement batteries. You can also still carry an additional battery spare too
- you can charge it separately or with it attached as the time time as the phone. If you charge with it attached the external battery is done after the internal battery reached 100%
- it's actually got 3 lights for charge on the back

Cons:
- it's a glued sealed unit. I was hoping to crack it open and do the wireless charging mod on it. This is going to be more difficult than I expected
- it's only 600ma!
- I reckon charging via the usb port might be a bit in efficient
- Personnally I would have preferred to charge the external battery first because that way you can keep the internal battery between 20-80% for longevity
- it's not a very good case in that there's no protection for the screen and...
- there's no antislip rubber feet on it. I guess some could be glued on...

I'll get back in touch if I can figure out how to crack this thing open for wireless charging mod.

All in all I say it's worth it now it's half price but I would have said no before when it was more cash.
Also, I'm yet to use it so it will be interesting to see how much extra juice it gives and how long the battery lasts bearing in mind also that it's not supposed to be replaceable.

edit:
actually the mugen battery doesn't fit with it on! also makes cover hacks pretty bad. both of these things make it not worth the cash in my mind. also it heats the phone so it can't be used as a gps because when using sat nav the phone heats up, too much to allow the. battery to charge!

now I have keyboard lag...

Also received mine today. Agree with all the comments above. Does make the phone twice as thick & twice as heavy. Strange that the instruction booklet shows a diagram with the charging port half way down on the right, but it is actually at the top on the left ( where the hump is ) !. Still need a screen protector as there is no lip at the front, but camera lens wont get damaged as its deeply recessed. Does not effect pics or videos though. Also noticed that it will only fit with the original battery cover, if using one of those cheap replacement covers the bottom section will not click into place.

Overall I think that at this price its ok, certainly not worth double. If you want to be sure your phone will last the whole day or perhaps a weekend, & dont want the hassle of carrying a spare & removing & replacing the back cover, then this will be very usefull.

my i9000 is one and a half years of age, i am not gonna buy a battery pack that costs the same as my phone (if i sell it). better get a standard juice pack if you don't mind the shape. you could still use it if you upgrade to another phone
