Hmmmm, does that mean they're using a pin short to enable "boost" mode? I've charged my phone with a HTC Desire S charger and it was wayyy faster so I'd have thought it was purely current based.

Yet another strange move by Sony; include a great feature like boost charging on their Xperia P model yet leave it out on the more powerful Xperia S model (with the bigger battery no less!). I really don't understand Sony's thought process.

I've also found that the HTC charger is much faster than the stock one

I believe you have the ep800? That's 850mA vs the likely 1000mA on the HTC one. That's why it's faster. If you can get your hands on a ep850, it's going to be even faster. But don't be too surprised when the battery gets hotter too.
