Anyway, just installed rc3 and so far no problems. The quadrant benchmarks are even better than before. 2d graphics performance is now even better, and io is amazingly better also. Same settings as before, screenshot attached.
These should continue to improve over time as I modify things here and there. I'm trying to squeeze as much power out of the supersonic as I can, for those of us not willing to dump her just yet.

With my current setup there is no rational reason for me to upgrade my phone. I don't play games and speed is fine for everything else.

Well, except It'd be nice to find a dual mode phone for when I am abroad.

that's right I do. The evo lte the phone of the future? I doubt that. Most won't even get a taste of lte until the end of 13. Those who don't now won't get Wimax because even though the lte is backward compatible with wimax, that's a newer Wimax which is not what is out there now. So chances will be high depending on where you are that the lte phone will limit you to 3g while the rest of us will still be able to get wimax, along with a completely unlocked bootloader, Rom/kernel/radio flashing independence, a recovery which is actually useable and removable batteries in case something goes wrong. So tell me again how the new evo is the phone of the future?

Let's just say the Evo LTE is the phone of the future - the distant future...

I don't really care about 4G. I'm on wifi whenever I need to seriously browse etc. 3G is good enough for email, maps etc.

There's nothing I do though that justifies better cpu/gpu. With these kick ass kernels and ROMs everything is snappy.

The nerd in me wants to play with any new tech out there, so I would be interested in seeing what can be done with the new evo, however I likely wont be getting that phone, as from a developer standpoint, the nexus line is really the proper phone for types like me.

Unless there is real compelling specs on release that make the evo4g lte a compelling buy, I just can't see myself with it, and it would have to be something far and wide better. Not to worry I'll be keeping my evo when I do get my next phone.

Side note here, while we can squeeze some better performance out of our beloved supersonic, practicality says that as the specs of the common phone increase, the hardware demands of the software running on it will also increase. I can think of a pile of phones right now that have no business having sense on it, and even GB is questionable.

I don't know what voodoo magic you put on .15 RC3 HWA but it is a noticeable improvement and performance as been very consistent. I do have a question about I/O performance though. On CM7 running quadrant my I/O scores were in the 1300 range but with ICS it seems stuck around 800. Does this have more to do with the ROM or the kernel or a combo of both? I have noticed a few post quadrant I/O scores of 1000 but no matter what scheduler I choose it stays at roughly 800. The trade off is that ICS with HWA scores significantly higher on 3d scores. Anyway nice job with RC3. Can't wait for the final .15.

You & carhauler are selling me more & more on the E4GT. I am up for my upgrade soon, so I might have to hit carhauler up to show me the ropes on the Sammy, since this here OG is all I've ever known of Android.
