Default Hot when using gps navigation

Hi guys I noticed something and I was wondering if anyone of you has the same problem.

I am using google navigation or waze and when I use them after about 20 minutes of navigation the phone temperatures are way too high.

Today after 25 minutes of navigation the temperature was over 56 grades celsius (idk if is spelled like that) and the back of the phone was really really hot.

Considering that usually the temperature is about 23-30 celsius grades I think that over 50 is quite high.

Anyone has this problem? Is it a problem or is normal?

Using tamasek kang's, one of the latest versions

have the same on CM7...and another issue with GPS when 3G is on...GPS status sometimes can't take signal. When i turn 2G, GPS working properly, when turning 3G back, issue doesn't exist for a while. Tested on BB 0725+0725ril and 1303+0725 v10d on CM7 kang 89, CM9 nova...

maybe try to turn only 2G signal, and test a temperature...i'm not testing yet...

Are you using the GPS feature under the sun? In the windshield of your car maybe?

I personally have my phone reaching 41C easy. (I use offline navigation btw, meaning no internet connection on. Just GPS.) And actually, heat is normal, I used a Motorola Milestone before, and same thing, it would get really hot under navigation.

What I do though, is I actually have one of the aircon vents pointed at my phone. Since I've started doing that, I now have a 28C phone navigating me.
Thank you for thanking!

well no at both questions.
The support I use in car for the phone has like a cover that protects all the back of the phone that should stay at the sun so the sun doesn't touch it.

Also no aircon vent is pointed at the phone.
I'm using the 3g connection always since I don't have any offline navigator.
Today I also underclocked it to 800mhz to see if it changes anything but nothing, same problem

My only advise then, is to look for a car dock that allows one of your aircon vents to hit the phone.

Sorry mate. I'm out of ideas too.

Just in case you're wondering, this is pretty much what I use as my car dock:

If you are using google maps, you can pre cache your maps at home using wifi so that you don't need 3g outside. Pre caching is fast, and covers quite an area. Hopefully by not using 3g while navigating will help reduce heat.
