Major KUDOS to VICODAN!!

I was nervous and scared to do this for a long time.

I was patient and read and watched the videos.

IT WORKS 100%!

The text and the video didn't always line up, but I figured the text was right. I would read that and just watch the video to see what you did.

Just trying to find a ROM now. Any ROMS that definitely work that you can lead me to? I'm lost. I'm so new to this.

I tried flashing a rom from the clockwork rom manager and had a bad experience.

I'm not a Sense fan. I got GO Launcher EX installed. Thats what I used before the root and I dig how it works.

Again THANK YOU!!

I didn't need the vids, the text directions were plenty clear enough. But my og e4g has been rooted for a while so maybe that's why I didn't have a problem with it

Thank you VICODAN! I finally got around to rooting my wife's shift because of this guide. The videos were very helpful. The only thing I was missing was the Blue Moon within reach. It would have helped, I'm sure.

A quick mention: under the rooting 2.2 instructions, the link to the Visionary apk is dead. I looked around on the forums to find another one, and then totally facepalmed when I saw it sitting open in the shift-rootkit.rar that I had downloaded from the 2.3.4 instructions. Might want to mention that it is already included if you started from there!

Edit: Oh yeah, another facepalm. Spent a good half hour trying to get the bootloader to find the PC06IMG.zip file, it kept skipping over it. It never clicked that this is the stock 2Gb microSD. And, with 2Gb or less, you can use either FAT16 or FAT32... turns out I just had to reformat the card and poof! It worked. Facepalm... it says that right on the front page at the end of the 2.3.4 instructions.
