Bluetooth 4.0 saves a lot of battery compared to the other standards. It's supposed to, luckily HOX has bluetooth 4.0 along with iPhone and upcoming SGS 3.

Pebble looks really good, I want one....they're sold out right now though

If they claim its only "marginally" better, they are not doing it right. Probably they are not using BLE and just "main" flavour of BT 4.0 - that would make sense with easy firmware-only update, without transceiver change.
At present, Casio has japan-only model of GShock smartwatch (GB-6900), which supports BLE. This watch lasts more than a year on battery (with 12-hour-a-day BT connection). I would call this more than "marginally" better battery life.

We are lead to believe they have a dual-mode chip, and a dual mode chip does not get anywhere near the same current consumption saving as a single mode chip.

Casio are using a single-mode chip, hence Yes they get much lower current consumption.
HTC 1S, Nexus 7 and Galaxy S3mini.

*shrugs* maybe. Does not matter much to me anyway.

I'll wait for a watch you don't have to charge semi-weekly. Initially I thought its not a big deal, but it turned out to be annoying (I used SonyEricsson MBW before).
I'd get this GShock, but I just don't like the design.

Hopefully pebble will do proper BLE watch in the future, given this one is such a success. It would be smashing if they could do a solar-charged one (which becomes viable when power consumption drops enough to allow about 2 years of battery life). I have Citizen EcoDrive and it's very convenient.

It's the old version which has connection droppings all the time.
You should cancel your order, because he writes "SmartWatch" in the auction and the old one is just Liveview and not SmartWatch.
He definitely tries to trick thepeople with the SmartWatch sign.
Really, try to cancel your order,
I have the Liveview and it's baaaaad!

As stated here, the Sony LiveView watch sucks big time.. Tried severel guides to fix the connection, and even with automate it set to connect, it still needed confirmation!

But their new watch, Sony SmartWatch, is superb! No connection errors, and no need for confirmation each time you get back in range..
The watch it self is also way better, the quality is improved, and the looks is better for a watch. The screen is pretty responsive, and scrolling through widgets is really cool to do on your wrist! I liked the concept of the LiveView, but I think it failed.. If anyone had it, I can confirm that the SmartWatch doesn't fall off your wrist like the old one. The strap is better suited for a watch!

Should be compatible, a few users here already using it with their HOX. Just Sony never update it on their website. Their priority is users of their phone, not other phone brands.
