Getting Sprint Nexus LTE in a few days, question on aftermarket 1950mah battery

Hi Galaxy Nexus users,

My new nexus LTE for Sprint is coming in early next week. I have already read that the 1850mah battery won't hold long for this beast even in 3G mode. So definitely looking into getting an aftermarket battery for the phone that have a bit more juice.

Saw bunch 1950mah/1980mah aftermarket batteries on eBay and wondering if anyone used those and if they actually keeps the phone alive just a bit longer than the stock battery. Something like this

Don't really want to go the super extended 3000+mah battery route since they are pretty bulky and ugly with a big bump.

Or does any reputable aftermarket battery manufacturer like seido makes a 2000mah battery that does not require a special cover?

I'm pretty happy with my Epic 4G Touch's battery life but I'm preparing for the worst.

I'm gonna stop at verizon store and get the extended battery and modify my current back by sanding it down a little inside the interior space where the battery sits.

Yeah I can confirm it fits, just picked one up. And yeah, I think I might mod mine a bit to get rid of the slight bulge.

Speak of bulge, it appears there's a little "bulge" on the back cover itself where the battery is supposed to go. Have a look:



I'm wondering if just sanding this down will make it fit perfectly. Though I'm kind of curious why it's there - is there any chance of any circuitry meant to help NFC in there?

I dont' think there are any NFC circuity on battery cover, as the NFC feature is build into battery. I'll have to wait a few more days when I get the phone to further inspect, I suspect the bump works like a foam padding to hold the battery in place? But just to be safe... I can update when I get mine and start grinding

Did you got the verizon extended battery? How much was the battery at their store?

Doesn't fit perfect yet (but then it didn't fit perfect with the stock battery either) but it's better than it was.

To clarify, NFC is built into the handset itself. The antenna is what's integrated into the battery.

Just bought the 2100mah extended battery, it is on sale now 50% off original price at Verizon Store for only $25+tax! And it's genuine Samsung battery,grab it while you can! It come with a Verizon cover which i believe you can some how modify to make it fit Sprint as well...
