Definitely not a sucker. The EVO LTE has the best hardware on the market which I think is more important than the network. Plus I get wi-fi in the places where I spend the most time (home and school). The alternative would be to get a WiMAX phone if you intend on staying with Sprint, all of which are outdated spec-wise.

Lte is automatically on so it'll just switch to a faster connection when available instead of you having to turn it on and wait like a minute and a half for it to either connect or not connect.

The first EVO had 4G. Different frequency, but still 4G.
As everyone with a 4G phone knows, it sucks. Turn it off.
Yes it's fast, but it KILLS the battery.
I haven't used 4G in over a year. 3G loads pages pretty fast where I live.

I have had the epic 4G...epic touch 4G and now waiting for my pre order EVO 4G lte to arrive....I live in Indiana so no 4g wimax in the entire state. I live a few hours from chicago where there is wimax but when I go there to visit my sis who lives minutes from downtown I get no 4g either. So I have yet to experience any 4g so getting this new evo doesn't make me feel like a sucker at all

I'm in south florida, are you sure about that? I personally leave my 4g on all the time because sprint's 3g speeds are unbearable here. Therefore, I was going to wait for lte deployment down here

As long as I don't have to pay extra for LTE, I don't mind.

Coming from a HTC Hero, I don't mind if LTE isn't turned on by the end of the year. I'm getting the phone because it's an upgrade.

not quite correct..
The new EVO is built off new cpu architecture with LTE inbedded, different die, more efficient, more efficient OS obviously, all good stuff = battery efficiency.ot arguing, just stating fact and you will be able to turn off LTE as stated and confirmed if necessary.
