PUK Code Didn't Work / Other Confirmations
Okay, I have just tested the PUK code on my AT&T Galaxy Note, and can confirm that it DOES NOT UNLOCK MY NOTE to allow a foreign sim (such as the T-Mobile sim I just tried) to be used in my phone. I got "Network Unlock Failed".
No, I will NOT try it a second time. I'm going to CellUnlocker now.
I can also confirm that AT&T WILL give you the sim unlock code IF they have it. When I bought my first pair of Galaxy S (I9000-style) phones on the first day they were released, I knew I'd have to wait a bit. I called three months later, and AT&T didn't have it. I called another three months later, and the rep opened a ticket and I had the codes - for free - for both - a day later.
When I bought my pair of Galaxy SII (I9100-style) phones, it was NOT on the first day, they had been out for a while. :) I called AT&T, and the procedure was even faster - they gave me both the codes right over the phone on the same call. So now the reps can access them real-time.
(By the way, T-Mobile will ALSO give you the codes for your T-Mobile phone - again, if they have them, but it takes them 24 hours to email them to you. I unlocked my Galaxy Tab classic just by asking for the code, easy easy. Haven't tried my Plus yet - it's still too new, I'd guess. But I'm not worried.)
The rep will ask you why you want it. The correct answer is that you're traveling overseas. I live in California. I tell them I'm going to Prague. It's actually true (crazy!), and it's far enough away from my "home" that they won't try to sell me a "Canada" (or nearby) roaming plan. They have always been polite, and compliant, about giving me the code - IF they have it.
Which brings me to my last point - I can also confirm that AT&T does NOT have the unlock codes for the Galaxy Note yet - and the rep, who sounded a little shocked at this, told me that her screen was telling her *October* - which, in her opinion, was longer "than it usually takes" (seems like she knew what was up) so I just thanked her and told her I'd call back in November. Not an issue.
But I don't want to wait, so I think I will pony up for cellunlocker or whatever it was in OP (I'll go look) just so I can get it done.
No cool graphics to post, but I use AT&T, love T-Mobile, and especially love living in the Samsung Galaxy!
