Guys, there's absolutely no need to be messing around with the kernels. That's not where the problem is.
Maybe not, but wants to know more about android, kernel, drivers etc and experiment a little. Can you tell something more where problem is? I'll be grateful.
We need a working HAL driver, or a HAL wrapper for the old camera libs. In Gingerbread there was libcamera which was the link between Android and kernel, but in ICS they switched to a HAL based driver, hence libcamera doesn't work. The easiest would be to use a HAL wrapper for the old libcamera, and there exists one that works for some HTC devices. I've tried this on the Galaxy W, and the camera is detected according to the logs, but when launching the camera app it just hangs and needs to be force closed.
