I have been using CM9 on my phone and my wifes too as daily drivers. I've been on it since the first kang. Currently on beta 3. The biggest thing causing me to consider a TW ROM is battery life. I expect AOSP ROM to blow TW ROM battery life away. Its disappointing when it isn't even close to equal.

I can't track down why its not good, and don't really trust the built in battery report or betterbatterystats. The only workaround I have found is to disable data connection and/or background sync (of google and exchange accounts). I don't even bother with Social Networking app sync as it would just kill battery way too fast. It can drain fast even after a fresh flash and no data restore/import. Deleting battery stats and recalibrating doesn't help much either.

Personally I love CM9 and give the devs lots of props for getting it to out so quickly this year, but the battery life leaves a lot to be desired. If it weren't for chargers at home, work, in the car, and the 1800mah battery I'd be running a TW ROM again, no doubt TPR.

Gotta remember that our phones aren't really meant to run ics... ics uses way more resources and that's why all the ics roms don't get as good of battery as tw roms... I still get 3 hours screen on time out of cm9... tw roms I get 4, so its not a huge difference

I don't really buy that the Epic is not capable, or designed to run ICS. I recently had a Nexus S loaner when my Epic went in for repair at Best Buy, and that Nexus has similar hardware as our Epic's. The Nexus ran ICS well, and battery life was notably better than our Epic. The Nexus also has a 1500ma battery, and I'd say got twice as long run times with very similar usage. I think the devs are getting close but obviously we have a little ways to go before everything is just right. I've been happy with the progress, and enjoy having the ability to run ICS. It would be nice if all the carriers would just release stock google os and stop loading them up with bloat ware.

Nobody said its not capable... its defenitely capable... obviously considering we have 3 pretty stable builds of ics... but it defenitely wasn't designed to run ics, if it was, we wouldn't have had to change our partition maps to run it... but it still handles it pretty damn well!

Because no one expected it to use that much memory. And the Nexus S 4G came out around with the same specs except no sd card is all. it runs fantastically, theres more devs for it because its a Nexus.

the only reason I had to quit using CM9 beta 3 was lack of Google play, I could never get it to work with all the fixes

Is there a way to set the hardkey backlight duration? If nobody's gotten around to implementing it as a settings item yet, can the value just be set directly somehow? (SQLite, editing a text file, environment variable, ???)
There's no place like ~/
