Get the EVO LTE. Most of the OG Evo devs, and some of the ones that were here (like me XD) are getting it. Downside to that is you might be stuck with 3G until LTE is implemented on your location.

But if you're ok with WiMax 4G, then you should get the Galaxy SII. Not too sure, but I think the community is better than the Evo 3D's.

Personally I would get the HTC EVO 4G LTE. I know a lot of people are getting the Samsung Galaxy SIII but to me they are getting it because of the name Samsung established with the SII. The SIII is nothing compared to what the SII brought when it was release. The SIII boasts a lot of feature but for me personally I doubt I will know enough people to even use half of them, if one of them at all. I know I'm not going to go up to strangers and exchange data so those features aren't what I'm looking for. Also from what I have been reading the SIII feels like cheap plastic as oppose to the HTC's unibody. But due to that unibody the HTC isn't allowed a mSD card, so that might be your deal breaker. S-Voice that comes with the SIII is crap and everyone is waiting for Jelly Bean anyways. From benchmarks at Anandtech the HTC seems to score higher or up to par with the SGSIII so the best way to determine what you want is to go to the store and feel and mess with both of them. That's how I would finalize my decision if I haven't already made it.

You do know that the HTC EVO 4G LTE doesn't have a unibody construction and has a micro SD card right? It's the only U.S variant with a different design among all the U.S carriers.
Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic Touch 4g (wow, that's a mouthful):
ROM: Depends on my mood. CM9, AOKP, Blazer, Blu Kluban,AOSP JB, MIUI
Kernel: Whatever is most recent, unless another performs better.
Modem: Ditto.

Everyone is still referring to it as a aluminum unibody. But I'm not entirely sure how loosely people define "unibody" as. I do know that the only removable portion is the top portion of the back. So the majority of the body is still just one piece.
