I just got my Galaxy Nexus a bit over two weeks ago. This is my first phone, but 2nd device, with Android (got a tablet first). I'm loving all the customization possible. I came from a series of Sony Ericsson feature phones; I liked their design and cameras, but got annoyed at their lack of updates/software support. Glad to finally join the smartphone world. I only wish the battery life were as good. :P

Can you T-Mo US users help me out a little? Does the T-Mo my account and Visual Voicemail work on the Gnex? Have you had any speed issues with the phone?
Yes they work.

This is my first android device. I can say that I love my iPhone 4s. I ordered the GNEX through the Google play store because I wanted an OS that would be updated like the iOS updates. I've been watching android devices get left behind because carriers, with phone manufactures, take there time updating. That's the reason I chose GNEX unlocked GSM. So far I've kept it stock because its new to me and I'm getting used to the OS.

I have been rooting for years, and honestly this phone is great stock (the gsm Google Play one). Alot of the roms look great though. Regardless i am going to keep my tab 2 and nexus unrooted for a good while.

I bought mine (Verizon model) yesterday with the extended battery and I'm very happy with it, running BAMF and franco kernel battery live is amazing, the only thing that bothers me a bit is the pen-tile matrix but I can live with it, coming from a crappie Evo 3D

Hi All,

Welcome to the community.

Just a quick PSA for those that haven't figured it out on their own yet. I recommend that you unlock your bootloader as soon as you get your phone. Even if you don't want to do a custom ROM or even root your phone right away.

Reason: If/When you do decide to root/ROM your phone, you will need to unlock your bootloader. Most phones will do a factory/data reset when you unlock your bootloader; read: you will loose all your app data.

Caveat: People who got their phone from the Google Play store *may* not be forced into a data/factory reset when unlocking their bootloader.

If You're a Better Person: If/When the time comes that you do want to root/ROM your phone and you haven't unlocked your bootloader - there *may* exist an exploit at that time that allows you to root your phone even with a locked bootloader. (You need root in order to properly backup your apps and data prior to installing a new ROM and restoring said apps + data)

Former original droid, droid incredible, and rezound user here.. mine is coming tomorrow. I may be jumping on the bus a bit late but I am super excited to have AOSP Roms again .. I have not been this excited since I first started throwing Roms on the OG droid
