How risky is the "Flash Abyss Kernel" way compared to this super looooong way with PC Odin?
I don't think flashing a Kernel is so "super I/O intense", right?
I prefer that way right now, im thinking about going to CM9, i love my note too much to brick it

Its risky.....so better go the long way as you yourself told that you love your note too much...so choose your path wisely and risk free!!
Thanks mate !! Appreciate it!!
Well before i say anything i would like to directly quote Entropy on this
"The safest way to get away from ICS is:
Use PC Odin or Heimdall to flash a safe Gingerbread kernel with working CWM (NOT a full firmware package, and DO NOT mess with repartitioning), such as a Gingerbread CF-Root release. From there you can wipe and then flash whatever you want.
To be clear - JUST flash a safe kernel and then wipe/flash using that - don't flash anything else in PC Odin. If the full firmware package you flash has bootloaders it could hose you."
Hope this clears !!
Want flashing just a safe kernel increase the binary counter?
Since you are on stock unroot lpy then going to gb using pc odin shouldn't be a problem! Hope u haven't done factory rest when on lpy!
Any stock gb rom which is directly rootable will work. Just extract the zip to md5.tar and put it in the pda option of odin. You will infact have the odin method explained there with pictures for easy understanding in the thread itself for rooting. Dr ketan did a great job on compiling that :)
Just make sure repartition in Unchecked!
BOOMED from my BOMBASTIC NOTE
does it have to be rooteable?
I am asking since i dont want to root so can i not use a stock unrooted GB ROM?
Gurnishd
Coming from the land of SGS , SGS2 , Galaxy Tab 10.1 & Galaxy Note and now here to stay ......

No not required to be root-able. Neither PC odin requires root not you require to flash a root-able GB rom. You can easily flash the stock GB rom without root!!
Would you like to know one of the things that really annoys me on a daily basis? Tough, … more
