I've almost no way to troubleshoot anything because I don't have a p970.

Just recorded for two minutes and its fine for me. First time I've ever used it. Just prefer a real camera

Tried to install but got the error message -

assert failed: getprop ("ro.product.device") == "P970" || getprop ("ro.build.product") == "P970" || getprop ("ro.product.board") == "P970"

E:Error in /sdcard/Download/cm7kang-p970-RC2-78.zip, (Status 7), installation aborted.

I wiped everything that's possible to wipe, tried many times, but always get the same error. Is there any solution?

You can try reflash CWM recovery.

Try another cwm version. I had the same problem with touch cwm.
With an older version is it no problem.
