Is there a flashable 1.4 kernel around? I prefer using the standard package over the aroma version (last time I used aroma it installed the buuf theme I didn't want, and didn't install the beats and gapps I did want)
(10/09/09 - 02/10/12) HTC Hero CDMA
(02/10/12 - present) Motorola Photon 4G
(03/03/13 - present) Nexus 7 WiFi

As long as you do the pre-procedure (advanced, report error, show log, reboot recovery), you should have no issues with Aroma. I just did another install last night, as I wanted to add additional stuff. Installed exactly what I wanted. Just can't skip the pre-steps...
I don't have any of the kernel flash zips around....maybe check on Jokersax.com...just be careful, it's only compatible with the ones from 0.6.0 or 0.6.1.
Personally, I'd go with Aroma installer....

I'm going to try to edit it for you. Keep in mind that the lockscreen might not work right, so before flashing what I upload in a little bit, be sure to nandroid...

nosmslock.zip Should just flash.

Keep in mind, I am not sure if the lock screen is intended to work without the sms, so it may not function.

Can anyone tell me the steps that they used to get this to work. I tried the standard version of the most recent update and still get frequent reboots or when I reboot it just stops at the moto logo and I have to keep pulling the battery to get it to fully boot

Which version (aroma/non) did you use? If in Aroma, which options did you choose? Might be one of the options you picked if in aroma. I do know that the 1.4 kernel tends to be more stable than the 1.3

I've been on this build since I ported if Friday afternoon and have yet to have a reboot.

I used the non aroma version

I was on cm9 before trying miui so I used your wipe all zip then flashed the miui.zip and then flashed a second time just to make sure and then flashed the miui gapps and rebooted

Try the Aroma one. I know it's a big file, but it's got some really cool options, and I haven't had any problems with that version. I'll have to give it another look over (the non-aroma version). I have a feeling it might be the kernel.
