Well I got the cable and it does play video, tho it's unwatchable. Maybe the cable has a wire loose but the color is way off and very blurry. I mainly wanted an audio cable with charge so I don't mind too much but still a bit disappointing.

I've been thinking about putting my gtab in my mustang. I'd have to do some fiberglass work but that's not too bad. I'm going to relocate my hvac to a lower din slot and move my headunit to my center armrest.

I want to put a cover on though to hide it, and i can't figure out a good idea for that.

I'll take some pictures of what i'm trying to do this weekend.

I mounted the SGT in my double DIN by modifying the car dock to fit on a piece of lexan I have filling the double din hole in the dashboard. I then placed an amplifier under my passengers seat to power the unit. I have a write up on what I did on my blog. I am a new to these forums so I can't post a link yet. PM me if you want a link.

However, I recently broke my tab and bought the 7 plus. I am going to modify the tablet so the unit charges and play audio through the dock connector and fits into the holder a little more easily. I will let you know when I get that up.

I've done this a while back. Here's a thread detailing my work http://www.mp3car.com/show-off-your-...h-casting.html. Hope that's useful to some of you attempting this.

My low tech approach after recently buying a car with a cassette stereo:

Simple, effective and dirt cheap.

(and no, the Tab doesn't block the view)

Default Audio and Charging Cable

I have ordered two of the cables you guys are talking about with the ability to charge and output audio and video. The cables works but not in a car. The car battery powers the amp and charges the tablet so you have a common ground. This creates a lot of noise in the audio signal when charging the table and trying to play audio.

When the audio is attached via a separate cable in the headphone jack and the charging is done through the adapter in the bottom of the tablet, a ground loop isolator can be added to the audio circuit to reduce the noise. This however does not help when only using one cable.

The way I got around the need for two cables was to add in bluetooth receiver to the amplifier. I still needed to add a ground loop isolator into the bluetooth audio circuit.

My install was pretty easily and looks professional enough for my taste. I just modified the car dock to fit in the double DIN dash in my Mustang. I have also passed tech inspections and autocrosses and a track day at Road Atlanta with the tablet in. So this solution should work.

I have mine mounted in the dash and use it solely as my source unit for all music needs. With wireless tethering and Pandora, IHeartRadio and the music apps, there is no reason for a head unit. I gave up cd's years ago.

All i did was use a 3.5 jack to rca wire and ran a pre-amp eq to step up the input signal to 5 volts, The plus to this is with the pre-amp is there are two sets of inputs and it splits the input signal to the front, rear, and subs reallly well.

The only downside, if you call it that, is you will need to install amplifiers to power your speakers, but thats the avenue i was going anyways.

I also purchased a 4 port 12v station like the 3 port above. Hard wired it in to the lighter acc wires. Have three of those usb 2 port plugs to charge all my toys, all hidden under the console for a clean look.

My system. I'm currently replacing the power plug on the side with a HDMI Media Dock once I figure out the audio out issue on the dock.
