Those Kernel's are not an exception to the rule, they have the same risk for bricking flashing kernels, roms, and doing resets. All current ICS kernels, stock, stock unlocked and cwm repack can cause the super brick.
EL26 CWM which is a gingerbread kernel is the safe way to do it.
