I spoke to show-p1984. He's a kernel dev. He agreed to make a kernel for us but he needs a phone obviously. Look at his threads for his kernels. He can be a great asset to the Amaze.
Does he know the hurdles that would need to be jumped? Working without source for wifi SHOULD be possible, but if he knows that going in and thinks he has something to offer then awesome..

Are you serious i responded to what he said in a post to me and posted source links and you edited it. Ive been at this site for years and its really gone down hill and the mods areba big part of it. my post had to do with why the bounty was not a good idea if the mod like the op could read he would have seen that like others i think im done here the great community we once had is now ruled with an iron fist by power hungry mods and trolled by a bunch of people who just want to stir up trouble i sir an not one of those. The environment is a lot more friendly to new people and less modd heave. Anyone reading this if your tired of the new xda, try android Central it has more of the feel this site used to have.

I'm sorry, half of what you said makes no sense.. but I can respond to what I think you're saying.
1. Half assed ice cream sandwich? Almost every other device had some HUGE bug, like the nexus did - we don't. People complain about radios, but no one has TRUELY lost signal over it.
2. The ota broke what? Look at what forums? You're gonna have to explain.
3. They stopped selling the amaze. Period. The htc one series is what they are selling now.. so whatever you're saying about customs and all sounds like crap. Don't read those articles, they sound like morons. And provide some links, because I have a feeling your sources just suck(no offense, most sources suck).
4. Again, makes no sense:"i just don't think anyone trusts this phone they speak with their wallets and the $ is not going to the amaze sorry its just true." You have an amaze, I have an amaze, we DID speak with our wallets- they still stopped making them, but likely they've had a plan this whole time when they are going to sell what device..
5. Development dud? Seriously? Everything you've said(that makes sense) seems uninformed - we have a rock solid device with awesome features that got a more stable(we have had ICS over a month now) version of ICS than almost any device gets - it is the opposite of a development dud.
If you're criticizing development here, it is going on, and a few people are trying to make contributions, but development relies solely on people wanting to give back.
You said something about the HD2, a phone you must have really loved(you named your screenname after it!)- but be realistic, it was no superphone, I wouldn't pull out my wallet for that if it was one of the few choices on earth.. but that doesn't mean I could say half the things you're trying to say.

I am still totally convinced that a REALLY good dev is able to work around not having source - you should see the amazing things they've done without source for the nook color, with no source at all! It just takes a damned good dev. It also helped that there were members of the community who were willing to help by learning/contributing and devs patient enough to get them to that point. Where there was originally only TWO devs working on it, there are now 20+ people who have learned enough any one of them could come help get this devices kernel kicking(without source!)
Of course keyodi & fattire had a source? Or do you mean Android 4 source? But at least wifi drivers etc. were working - the parts where no drivers/libs are available (hardware accelleration) are still not working. No doubt that a "REALLY good dev" is able to work around that but this could and would take ages - which probably isn't really worth the effort.

Well we didn't get wifi source for our last kernel source(this is my understanding), but we DID have source.. since they just officially put out ICS I imagine kernel source is coming soon, and I don't think we know for SURE that wifi source won't be included..
And I meant that fattire didn't have an updated kernel source from the manufacturer that would play well with android 4.0(hence the lack of hardware accel, etc).. they just made the previous source work right?(like using our 2.3 kernel rather than having the 3.0 kernel source we are expecting soon)
I'm clear on many things, but all things kernel is where I start to get lost - I feel like I only know enough to have a deep respect for those who know more.

I know a little bit about kernels... And I know a work around to the WiFi driver source would be to write a wrapper so the Roms will use old prebuilt wifi drivers that we have available. It's hard to do but I know someone who's done it. I will talk to him tomorrow.
Also, who wants to give out money to a person that could just pocket it? Sounds wasteful. I think we should save the money and give it to them after they get the phone and release one Rom. ( just so we know they arent pulling a fast one)
@hd2joel: Please refrain from engaging in off-topic discussion. This is not the HD2 forum, nor does it have anything to do with Amaze Development. Also, please refrain from posting comments that are flamatory or flame bait in nature. It serves no purpose whatsoever, and will not be tolerated. There's an off-topic section, where can share your thoughts. Thank you.

I've reached a few kernel devs who said they'd happily work on our kernel as soon as source is released, they think it should be easy enough with source.. one even said he is pretty sure faux will once he has source. So perhaps we just wait for source and see, it won't be that long I think.
