You don't need Windows 7 ulitmate to VM XP, any version can do it. Just depends what VM software you want to use. You don't have to use MS VM software, have you tried VMWare ?

just that i have virtualbox and u cant dedicate a usb port to it....it would go through some layers in virtualbox and wont be like directly pluging a usb device to the guest os.... does vmware have that feature?

so with the prerooted kernel i don't need to unlock bootloader?

You will still need to unlock it, you can't flash a kernel without unlocked bootloader

im not 100% sure if i read correctly but on my vmware virtual machine, if i plug anything usb into the system i can access it through vmware (WITH VMWARE TOOLS INSTALLED)
for example if i plug my usb stick in, it loads up directly into VMWARE (UBUNTU)
if i plug my phone in for flashing purposes it shows up and flashes (THROUGH WINDOWS)

so if i read correctly then yes vmware does have that feature with VMWARE TOOLS hope that helps

anybody apart from the TS manage to flash the system.img successfully?

well 3 people including me have tried all with same error....
so any news on the auto-rooting kernel? or has any tried making another system.img? my is unlocked and im just itching to root it..anyone wanna port cwm?
