Running a T-Mobile One S, tried the HTC One X root, let it sit and it did not work!
Also, I unlocked the bootloader use HTCDEV.com and it says ***Tampered*** and ***Unlocked*** so, what does ***Tampered*** mean?
Anyone know how to easily root? I tried running that HTC One X root method 2 times, on the cmd it says failed process.
Please help! Thanks!

Tampered means it got marked as "somebody messed with it" like the mechanism Samsung has to determine whether or not there had been manipulation of the bootloader...

Hello
I have the feeling that answers come in very reluctant and slow on the One S forum so i'll try and jump in but i am still very basic and my answer might need addition or correction:
The Rooting Process does not wipe data/apps/sdcard (i had a factory reset, fresh device so i am unsure about this statement.)
Rooting the device on the stock ROM will not stop OTA as far as i can tell. (please correct me if i am wrong).

when I tried using the one x method "one click" I got no where fast. I tried it several times...and nothing. alot like some of you are posting. I followed the video after constant frustration...and it asked me to check and actually check for proper driver installation. even though the pc comfirmed they were, they were not. and just like in the videoafter clicking for them for confrimation, they installed and it started to zap the phone...I was kinda scared this being my first time rooting by myself...especially a brand new phone..
but after its 3-4 reboots, I saw that super user was installed, and I was good to go. its been 2 weeks, no probs or issues what so ever...
using stock rom, rooted for teathering...eliminated t-mo crap..and its all good. This is the video I watched....

Having just rooted my One S using Paul's 'Superboot' I can confirm that it does do a factory reset but does leave the SDCard partition intact.
Worked like a charm for me. Had run it twice for some reason but second time SU was installed and root access granted. Many thanks Paul.
