quick changelog (feel free to update):

  • reboot/shutdown menu has new icons/now themeable
  • new icons in settings menu
  • apollo cm9 music player
  • defy parts giving FC
  • wifi data usage can be seen on a per app basis
  • youtube videos (from app and blacklisted) now work. (weren't working for me in previous build; little laggy on HQ, but pretty manageable, LQ works fine)

feel free to correct me, but I don't think new governors were implemented natively. I didn't check bootmenu (obvious I know), but after flashing latest nightly I checked no frills and it gave me only the 3 standard governors. So, I just reflashed skeevy's droidx port.

after finally checking the bootmenu, I noticed 4 clocks present. obviously, we can't use the fourth clock because we're stuck on froyo kernel. after redoing my clock settings in bootmenu, no frills isn't giving me the option to choose my min. clock freq. as my clk 1 setting for some reason. it's showing my clk 2 value, my clk 3 value, and then my clk 3 value again..

LOL about the vsels -- Defy plus users are reporting having only 3 vsels to choose from. You could always add the /system/bootmenu/script/overclock.sh and /system/bootmenu/config/overclock.conf from Epsylon3's latest CM9 (will work) or Quarx's CM9 Defy+ (if its true that they only have 3 vsels)

Also from Defy forum, you have to enable all modules to use boosted.

Or make an init script that looks like this (so you save ram from not having all modules loaded)
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
insmod /system/lib/modules/cpufreq_boosted.ko
Name it 99boosted and either add it to the zip before installation (USE NOTEPAD ++)

or adb

adb remount
adb push /path/to/99boosted /system/etc/init.d/99boosted
adb shell chmod 0750 /system/etc/init.d/99boosted
adb reboot

or copy\paste with root explorer

I haven't flashed this cm9 yet, so I can't comment too much, but the above will work. Later, work was canceled and I'm off to get drunk. Its almost 12 o'clock, probably be 1-2 till I start drinkin.

No problem. I just make it a habit to check the Defy forums, especially when Quarx releases CM9 for Bravo and Defy at the same time. Chances are we'll both have the same or similar problems. I pm'd Quarx about it.

alright, so I made the script, put it in the nightly zip, replaced the bootmenu files from epsylon's latest defy cm9, and reflashed the rom. the problem with cpu clock settings is fixed. Boosted works fine.

See the link - which is the edited build - so you don't have to edit anything and can just flash it straight: http://www.sendspace.com/file/st7pra

however, I don't see sio as a scheduler option. only noop and cfq

Edit: so to solve the problem of not being able to set sio, I just flashed skeevy's droidx port, after installing the edited nightly zip and now everything shows up as it should.

Finally!!

My device would be pretty much perfect now if reloaded ics was updated to be compatible with the new cm9 code. but rob43 is living his life, and I can't complain lol

Next update from Quarx will include weather on lockscreen, I believe!

3g is known to drain battery much quicker than wifi or just plain cell radio. use skeevy's droidx governor/scheduler zip for much improved battery life.
I would also recommend juice defender app. I use the 'ultimate' version, but the normal one works well too.

Even if you installed GAPPS you will see only Play Store, other apps should be installed manually.

With 3G working the battery will drain in a short time, when I have good reception, battery will last longer.
