Actually, I THINK
that might work. I never thought of it!
You can try it... But I would encourage you to have an RUU on hand equal or greater than what you have now.
And there is also anothe consideration to be made... An unkown factor if you will...
On prior device I have Deved for, most notably the HTC Rezound, we have found that the kernels (boot.img) seem to start getting coded for specifc radios / firmware. Although none of us could come to a conclusion on what exactly was going on I have a distinct feeling that the Fimrware shoudl match the Kernel.
What we "think" we found is that mismatching them will cause poor battery life. Once again, there are sooooooooo many facotrs that determein battery life we could never really say for a fact. The other factor we analyzed was heat dissapation. Some people's phones got so hot when they used mismatched kernel / firmware they would nearly burn themselves (not really, but for dramatic affect...). On the other hand, Some people said it ran cooloer mismatched.
I eventually gave up on trying to figure it out and told everyone to run the same kernel and firware. Doing so has significantly reduced the number of complaints.
Then you have to factor in background apps, etc... So yeah...
So to eliminate that complication.... I state... You must be on 1.85.
But if you want to try the method you are thinking be my guest. Just have an RUU on hand.
Good luck on which ever path you decide to take!
