How does this compare to 165 in regards to the changes...in NON-GEEK terms please! :) 165 has been so good for my phone I'm afraid to change!!!

It's pretty straight forward. I fixed all the warnings that were present during kernel compile. Warnings are little ****s that say "defined but not used" or "lacks cast", or "declaration is not a prototype" etc. Now we have ALL the compiled code clean on C standards.

Are you serious? I'm not a programmer or developer by any stretch of the imagination but I thought what he said was pretty straightforward. Franco was nice enough to answer your question, you don't have to be an ass about it. If r165 is working well for you, then don't upgrade if you don't want to; the changes since then have been pretty minor, so it shouldn't really matter.

When you compile the kernel, you basically translate the source code from one language into another language that runs natively on the phone. Before, during the translation process, errors appeared (seemingly due to different pointers and variables that didn't exist and whatnot). Now all these errant issues have been fixed, such that when the compiling happens, there are no errors whatsoever. C is the programming language that the source is written in.
