I have managed to apply the insecure boot.img and then install super su, but any program that requires root refuses to work.

I will get the dialogue box that says 'do you want to grant super user permissions' to which i select grant. After that the programs hang and i have to force quit or the program stops responding and quits.

Edit - On second thoughts, it might be the program that isnt designed for the S3 rather than the root not working correctly.

I've had no such problem, been using rooted SIII for last few days also installed CWM and tried some Omega roms for testing.

It's the easiest phone i've had to root and customize.

Same here! In the states it's looking like June 20??? So that gives all the developers out there till then to come up with 1) One-click root/unroot 2) CWM touch recovery 3) Awesome ROM's (Omega's got a head start on that ) 4) Over clocking awesome kernels 5) Several great themes to choose from.
So, You've got 3 weeks, get working!
I'll be drooling over here patiently waiting till it's available stateside as you guys work out all the bugs. lol I wish I had half the talent. Thanks for all you're doing for what promises to be an incredible ride!
