You got the black screen of death (BSOD). It is a problem with the ICS kernel. The ondemand governor gives these problem. The solution is to select another governor with, for example, No-Frills CPU control. I use conservative and had no BSOD in weeks. I am also running Shaky's kernel (which is a bit faster and should be a bit better in the BSOD department, but not yet completely fixed).

I've seen issues regarding A2SD and "disk" space but haven't been able to find the same symptoms elsewhere in the thread. Thing is I'm running a 1,5 GB sd-ext with LX-D2X (Lennox' mod) which has been stable and worked flawlessly until now.

Suddenly I get complains that there is not enough space on internal, see screen dump. But Settings -> Storage tells me that there is 1.05 GB free space - what gives?

This is what the filesystem looks like:

Code:

I notice that /sd-ext is really small and /data big - have they been mixed up some way?
This is very strange. Hopefully Lennox can give us some information about this. He is the expert on this (and also the creator of the excellent LX-D2X script). So I hope he is online soon.

EDIT: I do notice that the cache/download is rather full. Maybe that's the problem ? (I do not know, but I just noticed it).

That's how all d2x type setups work, they mount sd-ext as data and vice versa. How the internal memory has filled is puzzling.

Go into terminal emulator/adb shell and do:

cd sd-ext
du -d 1

See what folder is using lots of memory, then do

cd folder_name
du -d 1

Etc etc until you find the culprit. Post the output of the commands here. It shouldn't be able to fill up so I'd like to know why it is.

Edit: the download cache is exactly the same as sd-ext (internal memory) as that's where its been linked to.

Hi all,

I've recently moved to this rom from the main Sandvold base (couldn't get on with 0.9 or 0.10 at all, hot reboots all over the place, random reboots on install from market and many more things) as installed this hoping I can get improvements.

The basic root of my problem is complete lack of signal, just constantly getting "Emergency calls only". Have tried complete wipes, reflashing etc but it still happens on either the old (0.5.4 base) or new (0.8.1 base) and getting frustrated now.

Any ideas?

Just to clarify, I didn't create the script. Its based on amarullz script, but modified to suit miui and myself.

Thanks, figured out how it works now - quite clever.

Guess I found the culprit: annoying people sending me gigantic PowerPoint attachments on my work email...

Got the same (hot reboots) w/ Sandvold 0.9+. Never had any problems w/ 3G service on any MIUI_Au or Marange ROM, though.

Although it sounds wacky, trying another SD-card might help. I had WiFi-problems (yes, really) with some ROMs related to a sub-standard card.

Somebody on the miui android forum posted the lack of signal on his honor.
See: http://miuiandroid.com/community/thr...service.16507/

Someone replied that he has the problem when he had no PIN on his SIM-card. Is that the case with you ?

Ah, that's because all system data is kept on internal for performance reasons. I can update the script to ignore email as I did with chrome, to save space on internal.

Edit: might do the same for browser, as the browser cache is the only other thing I can see that may cause excessive use of internal memory.

Maybe editing build.prop might help, did not check mine though:

Edit:

In my case power.collapse=0, sleep_mode=1. And yes, sometimes, voice call just disconnects and/or I completely loose coverage and need to rebbot. Happened 3 times in last 10 days.
