Exclamation Ice Cream Sandwich update via Kies

Hi. I have a Samsung Galaxy S II. Wanted to know, will updating to Ice Cream Sandwich via Kies wipe off my data (applications, settings etc) or will my data still be there after the update?

Kies updates are non-wipe.

Odin updates to official firmwares from Samsung are typically non-wipe too.
I never wanted to have a signature, but it seems I must. Please do not PM me directly for technical support. I mean it! No exceptions! Thank you.

Everyone (esPECIALLY n00bs) should read this.

No, all your settings will be saved but sometimes it's good to make a data wipe + cache + dalvik cache wipe because of bugs.

If I helped, please hit the THANKS button

Does non-wipe mean nothing will be wiped off the phone (settings, app files etc)? (sorry I am noob).

Yes, that's what it means.

Neverthless, I prefer to always be on the safe side, so I always do a backup (using TitaniumBackup) before flashing a new ROM or kernel (which happens about 2-3 times a week).
If you like my post, don't forget to Thank it.

Thanks for the help. Want to know another thing. If I update to Ice Cream Sandwich via Settings-About phone-Software update, will the information about kies (from the above posts) apply to this procedure as well?

In terms of it being non-wipe? Yes. I don't know what else you're talking about though.

Yeah that's what I meant. I am busy backing up my data with Titanium Backup (for safety). I came a cross a yellow smiling icon with an "M" on it. I am confused to what it means.

The "M" signifies a link to the Market (now known as "Play Store") entry of that app.
