So I leave my phone in the dock in the car when I'm at work. This morning when I went to work I pressed the power button to turn off the screen. At lunch, I pressed the power button to turn the screen back on. Nothing. I took it out of the dock and pressed the button. Nothing. A got a text message just then and it vibrated/rang and the notification light lit up. But the screen still wouldn't turn on. Anyone else see the same thing?

LTE AOKP Milestone 5. No car home apks installed. (Audio and charging work fine, although I don't know if it is 1 amp or 500 mAmps. How can I tell?)

I got it. But the phone doesn't respond to being put in the dock. I used a test light and confirmed there is power at the pins in the dock. Don't know what to do now. Running AOKP milestone 5. Doesn't charge, no audio, nothing.

Did you make sure that the phone charges off of the USB cable that you're using to power the dock? If it charges there but not in the dock, sounds like you just got a defective unit.

On the volume rocker:

Shaving down the bottom end of the volume-down area fixes the problem there, but I also recommend using a razor to widen out the area on the front edge of the volume-up area. Mine had a nice click on volume-down but was mushy on volume-up, and widening the slot toward the front of the dock fixed that.

Attached are two photos. One is (a bad) shot of the modified volume rocker area. The other shows the only problem with the fit. It looks like the dock was made deep at the ass end of the phone to accomodate for thicker batteries, but not at the top. This is with the extended battery. We'll see if it still juts out like this when I can put the regular battery back in.

Yeah I did that.

Well I guess it doesn't contact my pins well. If I wedge it down with the volume side out a little bit it works.

Audio is definitely stereo. Make sure high quality is selected when streaming.

Hmm... I have high quality streaming selected, but I don't even use audio streaming. I have the songs on my phone (sync'd thru google Music). I can only hear mono sounds.

I will investigate this. I am running AOKP milestone 4 build 29. Maybe there are some features not enabled. I do notice that when I go into setting/dock/ my "audio settings when docked" feature seems to be disabled. I couldn't get in there to change the settings.

I guess you guys don't understand that the FFC mod (Force Fast Charge) allows your phone to charge off USB at higher than .5a like it does when connected to an AC charger, so my 1.0a generic charger works just like the Samsung wall charger when it is connected directly to the micro usb port on the phone.

I just tested with the Samsung charger that came with the dock, and the phone reports AC with that one connected. So it appears, at this point at least, that the FFC mod doesn't work when charging via the pogo pins. Hopefully it can be corrected in code by the kernel devs and isn't something stupid being done in the dock's electronics.

Mine is disabled too, running Codename 1.6 ROM (4.0.3).

Been using my homemade dock for over 3 months and confirm forced AC charge DOES WORK via pogo pins. Elleshoo has been doing even longer on his. You need to be sure that your source is capable of providing > 0.5 amps, and that the resistance between your D+ and D- pins is less than 200 ohms so it is sensed as an non-data source.

Questions for those with this pogo pin dock

1. Has anyone got it to charge showing "AC" in this Galaxy Nexus Car Dock?? If not that would be a deal breaker for me!???

2. I would like to know if somehow the Galaxy Nexus Car Dock doesn't give any noise over line out??

3. Also a few posts up someone mentioning they are getting Mono Audio, can anyone confirm 100% that this dock gives you stereo audio via the line out on the dock?? This would also be a deal breaker for me lol! Also what "high quality" streaming option are you guys talking about?? In apps like Pandora's settings or is there any option someone in the dock settings or on the phone????

Yes but that doesn't take into account the Car dock's internals... which could be causing it to only output USB charge mode (at least less than the 1.0a).

Side Note:

I tested some different USB cables with my griffin car charger with my galaxy nexus, one port on the charger give USB mode, other AC, and full 1.0a. This is with the stock rom 4.0.4, so I don't think you guys need a FFC mods on your phones??? Or am I missing something here?

I did find some microusb cables were giving me less than 1.0a (tested with a voltmeter). However I found one microusb (standard cable not modfied) that gives me full 1.0a. I am able to run bluetooth, GPS, music playback via headphone jack, with the screen staying on full brightness, and still charge the phone very fast... just as fast, if not faster than with the oem wall charger with the screen off. My only issue is lots of noise coming thru the headphone jack into my stereo when plugged into any car charger...
