Not sure what app it is I've seen it on att commercial its were you hold up camera and get info on stores and restaurants and such I think Verizon got it too

I have used Layar a while ago on my old phone and it seemed cool. But that was on a droid eris, and it was slow which could have been phone or program. But now that you mention it I will try it out again.

I beleive if its those black square coded symbols your trying to scan they are called QR Codes, so just type that into the Play Store and I'm sure something will come up.

I think what he is referring to is when your say downtown LA you open the app and it uses the camera + gps, I assume, to tell you if the restaurant/store is good.
I assumed it was just a commercial.

+1 on yelp. It has a Monocle setting which is like layar.
