yeah i found that using ES File Explorer (and its ES Note Editor) resulted in a boot loop after making the change but using root explorer let me make the change and reboot ok

will put it through its paces after an overnight full change

Damn, I have just over 12 hours use and sitting at 24%. But over 3 hours screen on time. Mind posting some realistic stats when you get a chance? Where you are actually using your phone during the day?

Just pasted the text to build.prop, will test battery life tomorrow, but you may need to update the OP as build.prop is in /system, not /system/app

Thanks for this...

You're seeing about what I am, if you only had your screen on for 40, you would only be down to 81 percent after 9 hours as well. I know suzook1's battery increased a ton, but I think it just brought him up to average or very slightly better than average times.

And here's before editing the build prop:

I would have gone to 1 or 2 percent left, but i had to charge my phone for the bars. extrapolating it a bit, its easy to see I usually get about 4 hours of screen time and over 16 total. I'm running my battery down with it disabled today, will post again later

I have been following this thread for a few days and I did add the disabled command to my build.prop but so far I have seen no major improvements. My screen on time is typically between 1.5-2 hours between charges and even with this I am still only getting 12-14 hours. Not bad but not better than without the added command. I am still testing to see if anything improves over time.

Pretty much same boat here. I was hoping for this drastic change like Suzook is describing but if I used my phone for only just over a half hour during the day I might as well get a dumbphone and an ipod touch or something.

I've had it running with FD disabled for the last few days and have noticed that the battery drains significantly slower while on standby, but I'm not sure it made much of a difference for screen time. So it makes some difference and I'm happy about it.

No change on mine as well in both standby and screen time - was hoping for something more than placebo

TJBunch then you missed the point entirely. This was not meant to be a way to extend your screen time by a quantum amount.
It will do that to a small degree but this is about over all longevity when idle. Something disabling fd will do.

My average (moderate to heavy) gave me a max of 8 to 10 hours total and thats all. With this, I am able to get close to 24 hours
or a little more.

My second test was only about 40 minutes of actual screen time. it was sunday and quiet for me.

However I had wifi on, and sync running all day. send text etc. the point is there was a LOT of background stuff running and in just over 9 hours it only consumed 19% battery.

The previous test in which I ran a movie for over 4 hours times left me with about 25% battery. And the sync and other apps were running in the background.

Fast Dormancy is not cure all but meant to be a way to extend your battery. If you are not seeing any gains then im not sure what to tell you. the general consensus is it does extend it but at some point even disabling fd wont give you days of extra time with heavy use. Have you let is setting in a few cycles?
