The KF usb port puts out 3.3V when you plug an OTG cable into it, USB devices run on 5V

Unfortunately, it looks like without some sort of magic, the port on the kf cannot supply enough current to drive these regulators. Im observing the same thing as southbird did, the devices show up but do not work. Measuring the voltages at the power pins with a flash drive connected i get 2.4v at the vreg input and 4.5 at the output which means that there is too much load. Time to start looking for battery powered usb hubs
Can you use something like this with a AAA battery as an additional power source. Possibly wire them together with the VIN and VOUT of the cable? I have no idea how these work but just trying to come up with ideas.

Also this enclosure is just about perfect maybe just a little big.

DONATE TO ME
if you're going to use batteries, might as well get a AA/AAA usb charger and y cable, and enclose that or cut apart to size...will be cheaper and more guaranteed to work

Batteries is the next thing ill be testing. the regulator will be good for that as well since as batteries die, the voltage drops and the regulator will help to keep that at 5v as long as possible

I ordered this. We'll see if it works. I guess I will just adjust the potentiometer until a flash drive successfully mounts.

Voltage is not the problem, its current

Here's my latest update for OTG stuff. I took my previous hardware (small 4 port USB hub and AA battery USB charger) and packaged it in an altoids can. It definitely helps keep the mess down and even keeps things from getting unplugged.

It seems to be lasting about a day with heavy use. I've had these batteries in for a few weeks now but have used it quite sparingly.
