Unfortunately yes. Japanese seem somehow strangely attached to those ugly flaps. Especially fascinating is that 3.5" audio jack, just imagine how practical is to use it on the daily basis.

It just not need to be so damn ugly and impractical. For example, look at the 3.5mm socket of Panasonic Eluga which also has that IP57 certification.
On the other hand, there are plenty of much better mechanical door designs which keep ports safe and are not just dangling around when open.
But one thing AcroS really gets right: there is an uncovered charging charging connector suitable for dock. A clear progress compared to XperiaS. Even better solution would be a contactless charger.

I'm not sure current Xperia S users will rush to replace their beloved phone for Acro S, but those considering Xperia S now have an additional option to look for. I would buy it over Xperia S, but will wait to see if Hayabusa/GX/Z will come to EU.
