BEWARE: this could cause your system to crash while mid method, in which case you'd have to run the stock RUU, which I may not be up to help with, since I worked a 12-hr shift today
FWIW,

You may also want to set the ownership on the "new" file to root / root. This will match the other files in the directory.

Today, I restored my original SystemUI.apk, which I extracted from a nandroid of my stock system.

1) Renamed it while on the SD card to SystemUI.bak, then copied it to /system/app with Root Explorer.
2) Set the permissions as Mr. V has shown. Set ownerhsip as I said
3) Renamed SystemUI.apk to SystemUI.mod, then quickly renamed the .bak to .apk

EDIT: 1a) Set the file system to R/W first, then copy. 2) Dial 1-800-REBOOT

You can probably apply the mod this way too...

Heres another method. Install the "GooManager" app from the market. After installing it open it up and click "Browse all files". Then select "devs". then scroll down to "vinchenzop" and click on it. find the battery mod you want and click on it and select "begin download".

after the download completes you boot into recovery and then find the Goomanager folder on the SD card and your zip will be in there ready to flash.

Yes you do because nobody is "ONLY" interested in battery mod tweaks. Pretty soon a bad ass ROM with your favorite battery mod tweak and a bunch of other things that are cool and you know you have to have will be released. You might as well get unlocked now.

You also mght want to check out Titanium back up so that you can restore your apps and things after a complete wipe. If your going to become a flashaholic like the rest of us then you need to lose your fear of losing your apps and settings. You can get most of it back right away by using different apps and reading these forums. I can completely wipe my phone and erase everything and then have it right back and setup exactly like it was in less then 30 minutes and that includes configuring all my home screens, widgets and hacking HTCLinkify

I like an all white HC battery, so I modded Vin's HC battery mod.
I also took the green out of the GPS signal animation.

Nice! Thanks a lot bro. That white one looks really nice, too. Just dont know if I'd want so much white in my top right corner, personally. But it does look pretty sharp. Anyhow , DLing now.

Again, thanks and thanks and thanks.
