I pressed POWER + VOLUME UP and I see there was recovery but after I rebooted the phone, it's still S-ON. Can anyone help me ? I've done this for 4 times.
The tool wouldnt work for me either, so i flashed modified hboot manually

Here is the easy way to unbrick:

1. Flash your unlock token on 1.28 if it's (re)locked.
2. Boot into a working recovery.
3. Download this and push it to /tmp (adb push fardjadb_runnymede.nb0 /tmp)
4. get into adb shell and execute dd if=/tmp/fardjadb_runnymede.nb0 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
5. reboot bootloader
6. Download this and flash it to the misc partition (fastboot flash misc supermisc)
7. fastboot reboot-bootloader
8. Install a stock RUU
* As alfchin said, if you want to flash RUUs with different CIDs, extract the zip, open android-info.txt, change CID, repack and flash with fastboot flash zip ...
Hi guys,

Thanks for the amazing efforts put into this. I have been trying to flash a stock RUU in my phone CID HTC__044 using an RUU with CID HTC__J15. However it seems either I missed something or I was unsuccessful.

I followed Fardjadb, flashed the patch and got my hboot screen with *** FARDJADB*** and Ship S-Off. Downloaded the fardjadb_runnymede.nb0 file and tried pushing it while my phone is one with usb debugging enabled and connection in charge only mode but I got an error. I tried flashing the misc partition using fastboot while on hboot with Fastboot usb mode but failed.
I also extracted the rom.zip from HTC__J15 and added CID HTC__044 to the info file then tried to flash it using fastboot but got an error.

Just few things to clarify further:
1. Flash your unlock token on 1.28 if it's (re)locked.
2. Boot into a working recovery.
Whats meant by booting into a working recovery? I booted into recovery which was Android e3 recovery as I remember and got few error messages about sdcard!

3. Download this and push it to /tmp (adb push fardjadb_runnymede.nb0 /tmp)
While phone is on usb debugging enabled adb devices shows my device id, this command doesnt seem to result in anything except permission denied. Tried adb shell and adb remount but same result.
4. get into adb shell and execute dd if=/tmp/fardjadb_runnymede.nb0 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
D:\Android\adb>adb shell
$ dd if=/tmp/fardjadb_runnymede.nb0 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
dd if=/tmp/fardjadb_runnymede.nb0 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
/tmp/fardjadb_runnymede.nb0: cannot open for read: No such file or directory

5. reboot bootloader
6. Download this and flash it to the misc partition (fastboot flash misc supermisc)
Keeps giving a failure error
7. fastboot reboot-bootloader
8. Install a stock RUU
* As alfchin said, if you want to flash RUUs with different CIDs, extract the zip, open android-info.txt, change CID, repack and flash with fastboot flash zip
Do I need to keep the hboot file that comes with the rom or delete? Should I use SigTool to rip and sign the rom.zip or should I just extract it with winzip change add HTC__J15 CID and rezip it again?

My phone info provided below and I would appreciate your kind inputs and highlights. Thanks again

Your fastboot getvar all output, shows that you're already S-OFF. From this point follow the instructions in the second post.

PS:
You also want to black out the serial number in your original post like what I did in quoted content

Thanks fardjad for your feedback. I followed the steps in your second post, but still no success. I got the following error on cmd and on the hboot/fastboot usb screen on phone error "pasrsing android-info fail!" update fail.

D:\Android>fastboot flash zip rom-new.zip
sending 'zip' (384299 KB)... OKAY [ 49.299s]
writing 'zip'... INFOzip header checking...
INFOshift signature_size for header checking...
INFOzip info parsing...
FAILED (remote: parsing android-info fail)
finished. total time: 50.269s

Steps I followed:
  • Ran RUU of the rom that I want to use.
  • Copied rom.zip
  • used SigTool rip rom.zip to rip the signature
  • extracted rom, added cidnum: HTC__044
  • deleted hboot file from the folder
  • ziped the file with the name rom-new.zip
  • ran SigTool nullsign rom-new.zip
  • ran fastboot flash zip rom-new.zip

Any hint where things gone wrong?

Try and use Notepad++ to edit android-info.txt

Yes you need S-OFF for the cid trick, you do not have to unlock though.
