Although if you don't have a lot of practice or are paranoid like me I'd recommend using Mobile Odin. It takes all the guess work out of it and determines where it should be flashed for you.
The one-click Odin's that sfhub posts are what I use. Pretty idiot proof.
8. Fixed Software Issues. Item Number Description of Issue: 1 Embedded Applications - Disable Setting Reported/Issued
Procedure "With the introduction of ICS, the ability to Disable applications was introduced. For several of the key preloaded applications we need to have the Disable feature removed from Application > Settings so users cannot negatively impact their experience.
Please remove the Disable feature from these applications:
Gallery
Media Storage
Messaging
Sprint Zone
Sprint ID
Voicemail
Smart Device Manager"
Expected Results
Fixed in FF11 SW release.
Is this the only difference between FF09 and FF11? If so, those that do not like not having those options shouldn't switch over. Sprint ID and Sprint Zone, okay, yeah, I can see maybe disabling those. I think I'll have to agree with Sprint on the others. They're pretty important to the functionality of the phone and probably shouldn't be inadvertently messed with by people who can't root to begin with. If you have root access, there are plenty of free apps out there that can freeze or uninstall these apps.
Now add all the apps that default to sync with high frequency or all the time. Facebook, twitter, weather, gtalk.
Even if you are sitting at your house on wifi, this is a ton of data. Now think of the radio traffic if you are doing all this on the move.
Have backup to my account checked? Have restore from my account checked? Auto sync photos to the web? All more traffic.
It usually takes me a full charge and i have to recharge just to complete all that.
Now compare that to a normal amount of web/email that you do in a day...

The problem is, I do that all while connected to the charger, and I don't have any social networking apps to speak of and I disable almost all Gapps. I don't sync anything but my email, and I do no datas, so all of that is already there. There are some apps that do update periodically throughout the day, but its maybe 3 or 4.
I always make sure the phone is fully charged after all of it is finished, and battery life still blows the first 3-4 days. So i definitely see your point, and I'm sure that is a big part of the issue in most cases, but not so much in mine.

Given the amount of coverage that Android receives around here, you could almost be … more
