2.Extract_nv_data.bin_Original
3.Change_nv_data.bin_replace_and_restartS3

To backup, you make a copy of all your /efs folder to your SDCard with RootExplorer for example... (Copy/Paste)
I have too many devices... and it is not enough !

I follow your steps but it's not work for me.
I must backup and restore nv_data.bin.

So here are the steps I follow:
  1. Root your phone.
  2. Backup /efs folder.
  3. Change /efs/nv_data.bin rights to rwx rw- rw- (755)
  4. Edit original nv_data.bin and replace "01" to "00" in adress 181469 and save
  5. Backup your /efs/nv_data.bin in /sdcard
  6. Change /efs/nv_data.bin rights to rwx --- --- (700)
  7. Reboot your phone.
  8. Open /efs/nv.log and search the last line with "MD5 fail" and copy the second md5 checksum
  9. Change /efs/nv_data.bin.md5 rights to rwx rw- rw- (755)
  10. Edit /efs/nv_data.bin.md5 and replace current checksum by the copied checkum in previous step and save.
  11. Change /efs/nv_data.bin.md5 rights to rwx --- --- (700)
  12. Delete /efs/nv_data.bin
  13. Move /sdcard/nv_data.bin in /efs
  14. Change /efs/nv_data.bin rights to rwx --- --- (700)
  15. Reboot your phone.
  16. Check Network Lock with *#7465625# (should be OFF)
  17. Enjoy your new unlocked GS3 !!!!

Notes:
  • To backup /efs* I use ES Explorer
  • To edit nv_data.bin, I use HexEditor
  • There is a new line after checksum in nv_data.bin.md5, I think it's important, but not sure
