Just rooted my friends nexus GB 2.3.6, Can anyone tell me why the recovery on the nexus disappears after every boot? been searching about it for hours but I'm not getting any results that fit my problem. This is what I did.

I unlocked it by fastboot oem unlock
Flashed in fastboot recovery RA-passion-v2.2.1.img
Installed superuser from recovery
Installed ROM Manager, Busybox, from Market
Installed Busybox, and Clockwork Mod Recovery

Now, whenever the Nexus One reboots, it cannot go back into clockwork mod recovery. Everytime I need to use recovery, I have to re-flash the recovery from ROM Manager first. Otherwise when I reboot and try to go to recovery I get the android with the exclamation on it like in the stock recovery.
And I have to do a battery pull, and boot to android and flash CWR from rom manager again. Did I miss a step to make the recovery to stick?

Is Check for ROM Updates works? Using CM9 nightly ROM, ROM Manager Premium shows no new updates for my ROM available, but there is an update in Download ROM list. What should I do to make update checker work?

It seems that you have problem with not enough space available for the /data backup. Try another SD card with larger storage size.

To be precise, it will take you into the boot loader. Once there, wait 10 seconds, then press the volume down button once to select the RECOVERY, then press the power button to execute your selection. Voila---you are now in the recovery.
