+1 for AOKP/Fluxi

Also try Apex launcher. I like it the best.

Running this combo myself and, frankly, I don't see how my experience could be any smoother. My only other experience was a couple of days on Samsung stock GB and a few weeks with SHOstock 1.9.4 and one of Entropy's kernels. *That* was sweet as well. So this is the only ICS ROM I've used. For my particular phone and needs though, this combo has been superb.
Phone: AT&T Galaxy SII (SGH-I777)
ROM: AOKP a la Task650 & Ktoonsez
Kernel: Fluxi XX a la Ktoonsez
Modem: UCKH7

I tried AOKP with Fluxxi and it is stable. Also tried Paranoid Android. However I will still say that there is some issue with the ICS touch response/sensitivity. How much ever I tried to tweak the sensitivity it is still not at par with Ginger bread.

Some might say, its not a big deal but it saddens me that with ICS android is still not at par with iOS and WP7 with respect to touch response.

Also, battery life for me has been pretty bad on ICS roms and I consider myself a medium user. with ICS my phone typically lasts 10-12 hrs with 2-3 hrs of screen on time. I have tried keeping the brigtness to a minimum which squeezes a bit more out of the battery but it is pretty irritating working on a dim screen especially when we have a super Amoled Plus screen.

TO really understand what I am talking about (touch sensitivity) I would encourage all of you to try out a GB rom for a few days - especially the UnOriginal Rom. I did not realize how bad ICS touch sensititvity was untill I tried out this ROM. DO give it a shot if only for a few days.

I am currently decided to go back to Gingerbread - UnOriginal 1.4.6 ROM and give it a whole week of run to gauge the battery life. I am verry happy with this ROM so far - I will stick with it if the battery life turns out better. I remember when I was on stock GB ROM I used to go atleast 24-30 hours with medium usage. Never had that kind of life on any ICS ROM.

Again, these are jsut my opinions - yours obviously may differ as will your experience with the various ROMs.

This. Touch sensitivity and fluidity is really my only gripe. Some people don't realize how big of a difference there is because they either went straight to ICS or have been on it a while. The difference is astounding imo. I had made the decision to use ICS but was so bothered by the feel that I went back.

Just wanted to report back on my observations on the battery life using the Unoriginal ROM. I am seeing a significant increase in the battery life over ICS roms. On ICS I had to look for a charger at around 6 pm....whereas on this ROM I have 20% remaining at midnight. Same apps and almost similar usage.

Change the touch options in xtweaker for fluxi. There is a gingerbread touch preset. Honestly touch works great for me.

As for battery life you need to do a little tweaking. Use sio scheduler and enable AFTR and LPA idle mode. Set max CPU to 1000mhz and use a battery friendly governor. Set Max suspend to 400. The on demand governor that comes with fluxi is tweaked and runs great. Also try a different modem. LC5 seems to be battery friendly.

I easily get 4 hours of screen time. This phone just has a battery hog display

This is my absolute worst ever since having the SGS2.
It is AOKP 6/18 and Fluxxi 6/18 combo.
Never have this kind of crappiness on any of AOKP before today.

Also, no Deep Sleep displayed. Will have to let it settle for a day or two b4 moving on with something else.

Go read the last 10-or-so pages of the Fluxi thread if you haven't already.
