Default Help requested by a beginner

Guys,

I am totally new to hacking/modding phones. The thing is though that I am soo fed up with the pre-installed Vodafone settings, turning my phone into a sluggish monster. I want to be able to decide what runs myself.
So can someone provide me a step-by-step guide on how to mod my Xperia Arc using the ice cream sandwich mod?

Highly appreciated!!

Maurice

Firstly you need root.

If you have root you need to install a recovery most use cwm, it is a free app look on play store install and open then install into system.

To get into recovery mode, power down phone, then switch it on and as soon as you see the Sony logo start pressing the back button. You use the volume keys to go up and down menu and the home key to select.

Do a backup using cwm incase anything goes wrong or you don't like mod.

Once this is done you can download the mod put it on your sd card enter in recovery mode and select install custom zip, navigate to the file select it and then select to install wait until installed then restart phone, once booted new mod will be installed.

Hope this is clear.

Hi all!

My phone's bootloader is locked, which I think means, that I am unable to install CWM, and I am unable to root it.
Is there any other way to install this app?

Thanks,
Artad

you can root your device without unlock bootloader and for installing cwm you can download cwm installer.apk from play store...
