Just reaffirming that Samsung doesn't negotiate release dates, we'll get it when it's ready... Who gives a **** if they don't release an update if it's buggy as hell anyway and requires a half dozen follow up updates.

It can be hard to wait, though, eh? I think we get into this 'official ICS will fix everything' delusion. It won't!

I just tell myself 'at least it's not an iPad.' Maybe it has kinks, but I like to do what I want with my computer, not what Apple wants! I'd be way too bored if my computers couldn't be improved, and I have a feeling a lot of us would be way less happy if our Tabs were perfect. So if they keep us waiting, and a little ticked off, they're also keeping us busy trying to iron out the flaws. Admit it, you'd never have it any other way!

Could be worse too. You could have bought a Verizon Galaxy Nexus and spent 4 months waiting for a simple OS update.

I could care less about the stock ICS rom. However, it would be nice if they would at least release the kernel and camera modules/drivers/etc. now, this way the custom roms could be fully functional.

It would be nice if they at least released some source, or even, made the development process open source!

I just broke down and ordered my 8.9 once I heard they were eventually going to have an ICS update for it.

I tried a couple of 10.1 tablets, and didn't find anything special about them. Too large to be convenient book-readers, and other than that and a little web surfing or not taking, I don't use a tablet for much.

My wife has a G-Tab 2 7", it's a little smaller than I wanted, then 8.9 feels good in my hands and Wallie-World has refurbs on sale in a package with the keyboard, desktop dock, SD adapter...

I'll be happy to patiently wait for ICS...

They do.
opensource.samsung.com

Punch in i957 to the search. Nothing for ICS, but the platform and kernel source trees from the current production release (3.2_r6 with kernel 2.6.35.11) is there.

I think he was referring to them releasing the ICS source.

If this is any sign, we should get it between August-September.
