The only way I've ever been able to get over this obstacle is to fxz. However, there are now fxz downloads that are altered to leave your data alone. Try to find one of those to save yourself some headache.

Default In regards: .902 to .905 update fail

Hi guys.

I received the .905 update OTA last night and it failed on my stock rooted Bionic. I figured it checked for root and failed so I unrooted with Pete's Moto Root Tools. Unroot was a success but update still fails. I attempted recovery from boot loader and "wipe data/factory reset" hoping that this would clear the log jam. Again update fails.
Now I try rooting again and now root fails as well!

ERROR: adb could not be granted root access via local.prop method

Try again from the start, but if the problem continues, check your version
of Gingerbread -- hopefully you don't have a version where this exploit
was fixed.

This was again with Pete's which is how I've rooted/unrooted since I've had my Bionic. Any ideas?

5.9.902
Android 2.3.4
Kernel 2.6.35.7-g83f1a47
Build 5.5.1_84_DBN-71

Sorry, looking back, they say they won't wipe internal storage.

What you'll want to do:

1. Uninstall Safestrap.

2. Install Bootstrap.

3. Boot into Bootstrap. Make a backup of your phone.

4. FXZ that puppy to 902.

5. Root it.

6. Install Bootstrap.

7. Do an advanced restore, restore your data.

8. Update to 905.

jhmeyeriii, in the future, you'll make everyone's life easier if you start your own thread, rather than posting your issue in someone else's.

I started using MotoFail to root. It works on 902/905, as far as I know.
