[Q] Eris Windows 7 ROM or Opperating system?

Is there such a thing? I saw a article that best buy was running a Droid Eris with Windows 7. Where can I get this and how stable is it? This thread is intended for Eris only. Looking for a Windows 7 ROM/OS for the HTC Droid Eris. I am using Amon_RA recovery now and my phones (2) are both on Cricket Carrier plans.

I think you've been misled. There are so many reasons that no matter what you try you'll never get Windows 7, assuming you mean the desktop Windows 7, running on the Eris. I doubt if you could get Windows Phone 7 running on the Eris, either. AFAIK, there's never been any version of Windows 7 compiled for ARM processors, only for x86 and x86-64. Even if it were, the hardware constraints of the Eris would be completely ludicrous to expect it to run a huge Windows 7 installation, even if the ROM actually ran from the SD card, which would be the only way it would fit since the internal flash memory of the Eris is too small.

I did a quick Google search and I couldn't easily find the article you mention. Do you have a link?

There is a launcher that looks like windows though. That's about as close as your going to get. There's a launcher that looks like desktop and another that looks like mobile.

Wp7 was coded to only work with snapdragon processors. Running at 1ghz. If I remember correctly the Eris is somewhere in the ballpark of 518mhz.

If someone would've put the time and effort into rebuilding wp7 it could be possible. But why?
The Eris is the toughest and hardest to kill android phone I've ever played with

i cant make any promises... but probably within the next few days im gonna make some cm7 ports and see what i can do with them.. currently my eris is on simple mobile so i cant test mms or anything until i find a way to flash it back..

this was my first android... and i just got my hands back on it... my fascinate is a PITA with reading my sdcards.. so i think i may show the eris community some love..

expect lg ui moto touchwiz xperia wp7/8 and maybe more.. but those will be my priorities.. if i can learn how aroma works i may make a all in one flashable... just gotta give me time to relearn the device and see whats been done in the few years since i last used it
