So I was trying out all the various music apps out there to see which one has the best audio quality and great bass and came across RockBox. I am sure those of you who are "audiophiles" must have heard of rockbox a lot, but for those who haven't its basically "magic that makes already great sounding devices sound even better" ;)

Personally I feel SQ with Rockbox player is fantastic and easily better than PowerAmp and other apps. Though mind you, it doesn't have a fancy UI, no album art, well you could even call it inconvenient but if you are looking for the best SQ then I believe you can't get better than this.

Try Neutron trial, buy Neutron full, download Neutron Neon version, thank me later.

Just tried Neutron, its damn good no doubt !!. But I feel Rockbox is better. :) Neutron EQ isn't very great and also sound seems fuller with Rockbox and you can play around with more settings with it as well.

So at least for me No other player matches rockbox in terms of SQ.

My observations :

Volume is now very good, higher than stock player +beats mod 3.0 ;) Significantly higher

Bass is STRONG :D

Soundstage and stereo effect is better and overall sound is much more engaging and punchy than stock semc music or any other app (WITH beatsmod 3.0)

Already done that.. but fonts didn't change..
Any help??

I like this player's quality so much!
Great sound quality.
Much more cleaner.

But I just hate the UI.
I mean, its really unfriendly..

hello mas bro :D

how u change the language. i tried to rename the folder (it back to very small english font), remember the choice to go to language setting, rename back the folder (rockbox get the bigger chinnese font), but forget the choice to the language setting :eek:

any easier way?

Yea guys I know! UI is terrible but I am okay with it as the SQ is to die for !. Also I noticed that it consumes much less battery than the stock music player. Much less in fact.

Hallo juga mas bro :D

So u open the rockbox folder, find config.cfg , open it with text editor,

Find this line

lang: /.rockbox/langs/deutsch.lng

The default setting setting is in chinese.lng

Change the chinese or english or whatever language u want :)

Do it the same way on /rockbox/themes

Find file themes m9.cfg

And open again with text editor

Find the line

lang: /.rockbox/langs/deutsch.lng

Change it to english.

I'm using german as my default language :)

Amazing :D Just compared my XS with my Sony Walkman now and with RockBox my XS sound 90% as good as my Walkman !! And 90% volume too. Very loud !

(Earlier with BeatsMod 3.0 XS was only 70% as good as Walkman :p)

If the UI sucks I have no desire to even try it. I dont want to fumble around a clunky ui.

Totally agree.. Better than poweramp or any other music player out there in terms of sound quality.
Hate the UI though..Is there a way to make icons and text bigger? Can I reduce the resolution?

Want text bigger?? there is version in 480x800 resolution :) for my sola works fine :)

Some buttons not working

In the cabbie theme ow playing screen, the next button and the pause button are not working as a result I have to remove the earphones to stop it from playing further.. Am I missing a setting or is anybody else experienced this b4.

It is working fine for me. Make sure you got the right resolution and try calibrating your screen from the Settings menu inside the app.
