i called Verizon the other day, as I was about to pay my bill, for a new Motorola Razr Maxx for the wife and the normal monthly charges....told the guy everything looked ok but I felt like I didn't get the kind of deal I should get on that Maxx seeing as I just also upgraded my line to the SGSIII.....essentially spending close to $700 in two months
so he was like, ok, no problem, and instantly took another $30 off the bill, for absolutely no specific reason....I had already gotten them to give me the Razr Maxx for $169 instead of the $199 price
so, it may not sound like much to you, but getting $60 off of a Razr Maxx for no more than asking them to give me a better price is pretty good customer service if you ask me. I can't even get the Razr Maxx on US Cellular...and trust me, it's a ridiculously good device and I was about to get one myself until the SGSIII announcement
another example, when I called back to pre-order my SGSIII it was two days before my upgrade date. I was told that they could not upgrade me early, not even two days. You would say that that is poor customer service. But I say it's just playing by the rules. They did however offer me another Razr Maxx for my line and two days early, and for only $69. I declined and called back two days later and got the SGSIII pre-ordered for $169.
If I was with US Cellular I would not have gotten any of that, and I would not have the crazy good 4G LTE coverage I have either nor would I have unlimited 4G data.....so you understand why I choose to stay with Verizon. I myself want to have access to the fastest network and the newest devices.
I have been a verizon customer for 13yrs and everytime I renew my contract or get a new phone, they always dick something up with my plan. Im still with them because they offer the best coverage and always had a good selection of phones. Customer service is crap overall tho...although last year I called and complained about how terribly slow my htc eris was and the vzw gave me a brand new fascinate for free...somehow the rep managed to do this by extending my contract another 6mo. If you get the right csr, you can get some strings pulled. I have done it many times, but what pisses me off the most is every csr has thier own set of rules and guidelines they follow. Its like there is 100 different sub companies inside verizon. I would switch to us cellular if the coverage was better, but Im stuck with big red until somebody steps up plate and offers more.

You are gonna laugh but Verizon is a joke here even thought they have better phones. The only 4g coverage in our area is actually us cellular, as there is no Verizon 4g here, puts the largest 4g network thing in the trash can. I love my service. I am sorry, but 700 dollars in two months I better get more than good reception and unlimited data. The damn phone better make me an effin sandwich!

$150/mo service per month for two lines (700 minutes shared, 1000 texts per line, unlimited 4G data) = $300 in two months
2x $199 subsidized top of the line 4G LTE phones (Razr Maxx + GSIII) = $400
$400+$300=$700
after the fact I managed to get some of the prices knocked down, wasn't necessary but I'll take it.........so in the end it was slightly under $700
Its not the math that I have an issue with, more how much you have shelled out to get what isn't all that great service(well as you mentioned, it is proly the best for your area). We have two lines for just under 130/month, 1500 shared minutes, and then unlimited everything else. As soon as the phone comes out I will get it. Verizon usually has the heads up on phones I admit, but this time the playing field is more even, but I save a bit. You shouldn't have to call and complain to get what others are already getting, that is called customer service. But heh, you dont need customer service as you said, just service. Maybe when they jack your bill up some more you will change your mind, but heh, we are not all rich and famous yet.
This is not meant to be a jab or anything, just stating my opinion, so please don't take it to heart, as I do understand the point you were making.

yeah, i am in an area where I never am without LTE, home, work, etc.......it's a market where they have already done at least two LTE rollouts, an initial one and a second upgrade to capacity and coverage.
i can also travel across the country, and as long as I stay on the interstate my daughter can use her Kindle Fire with broadband speed in most areas or good 3G if nothing else by directly connecting to my phone.
US Cellular just doesn't have that type of scope, they just aren't that kind of provider, and I am more than happy to pay another $10-20 a month to have it
There are 3 things that really have me turned off to the S3: the all plastic body, the huge screen, and touchwiz.
Fortunately touchwiz can be mitigated with custom roms like aokp (go Steve!), but am I the only one that's happy with the 4" screen size on the fascinate and wants a phone around the same size with current generation specs?

What may be coming out that fits that bill?
