Probably one of my favorite features (utilizes the Streak's SMS/MMS stack)...

i remember seeing these photos on an auto-custom forum? thought you had the thread linked somehwere, but very cool, i'm afraid i dont have the skills to do such a thing myself. at some point when i reach that step in my configuration, i may call upon you for some assistance, perhaps compensate you for such work.

my car has been borrowed to help a cousin move across the country. i'm using my bike(honda cbr) in the meantime, probably for another week. the custom auto a/v shop near my house is ready and waiting for the dock-in-dash installation and aftermarket head unit install as soon as it's back. things are going to move quickly for me once i begin, but I am going to take some photo's and start my own thread showing the configuration and the steps involved. first step is hardware, then like i said, i may ask for some guidance as far as software----> if you'd be so kind.

sure not a problem... another word of caution regarding the home dock.. if you remove the PCB from the paper weight enclosure the exposed dpmi connector is extremely frail. I broke my first one putzing around with trying to get it to fit in my nav tray.

thanks for the heads up.... however i will not be dismantling the dock at all, the installers plan to have it come out of the front of the dash with a metal frame around the back end and two steel plates running under it with very small hooks that will catch the bottom front end of the dock. it will be at a slight angle to offset the back angle that the dock has with the clear plastic backing for support. they are going to attach the custom made bracket for the dock to the metal inside the dash and hidden by the front plastics. it will literally look like it was a factory design, and the streak will sit on the pdmi at almost a perfect upright angle, behind the dock and viewable when the streak is not docked, will be a flat plastic plate matching the rest of the center console. right above where the top of the streak sits when docked, is the aftermarket HU, so i will still have complete access to all the HU's controls at all times. the streak is simply a removable screen i guess with all of it's android goodies.

there isn't too much fabrication involved, as there is a small cubby located right where the dock is being installed, it almost fits perfectly into the cubby that is there. there are two buttons being moved and slight cutting into the center console so that the dock will be centered. i cant even tell if i am describing this well, but i will attach a photo of my center console to make it a little easier to understand. keep in mind, the factory HU is a double din and being removed, the aftermarket one is single din and will reside at the top.

like i said, i will take photos during fabrication and install.... these guys gave me permission to be there throughout the entire install, not sure they realize what they are in for yet, but they agreed to let me video tape and photo the process(they will want to use it for advertising purposes). they have done similar installs with some ipads and a few galaxy tab's. mine being removable, this is a first for them and the dock i am providing them makes everything easier and less expensive for me. i purchased the streak solely for this purpose, having a dual-core tab to use daily outside the car was a secondary purpose for me.

anyways, install+wiring+fabrication+head unit = a $405 quote. i'm expecting it to end up around $450, but considering i'm getting a feature packed head unit, and my tab integrated and looking like a clean factory install, i think it's a pretty good deal. yeah??

here is a very similar picture(i cant find the older ones i had, and the car is with the cousin). all is simiar except the colors of the dash and what not.

I can explain how to connect the Car2pc to communicate with Android? You can use the buttons to move your car songs?

That's insane. The parts alone can't be more than 100...200% profit. Nice
