I might be wrong but here are some points.
1. Im pretty sure you can flash custom recovery w/o SU if you do it trough fastboot so root acces is not your problem.
2. You could probably take a look at TWRP recovery there is a beta
3. Rezo609 i think was the guy nickname made pretty awesome all in 1 tool that can root your phone and flash cwm recovery.
And one more thing- sense is a great ROM so if you do have root access (im pretty sure you do) you can just look around and optimize it with some pretty handy apps from the market. I personaly dont see the point in having CM7(not moded) on phone that alrady has gingerbread but thats just my opinion.
Best of luck
You are right. After a while I realised that the ROM on my Wildfire S is actually pretty fast and easy to use. And the memory issue is still resolved by using link2sd on your rooted phone.
Still I find it very annoying I cannot try out different ROMS.
Hi guys!First of all many thanks for your work!I've just rooted my phone(marvel a510e Orange Romania-2.26.401.3-base band47.23e.35.3038H_7.57.39.10M-hboot 1.09.0099 unlocked via htcdev)using the method described in post#25-yes blind method, after many tries to go into clockwork recovery,or only to root my phone. After i've flashed clockwork after this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1702542 I've followed the blind method(after watching youtube videos and counting me too
the steps).Wil see in the future(soon i hope)how can use recovery for install other roms(by blind doesn't look to me safe). Thanks again!
OMG, are people on the internet really this dense? Dear friends from India my phone is rooted. Yes it is, I can do all sorts of cool things with my wildfire S. The thing I cannot do, and that is the thing that annoys me, is flash custom ROMS!
It won't work! Not in any way. Rooted yes! Flash custom ROMS no!
I do not need help to ROOT my Wildfire S. I need help to flash custom ROMS.
When I rooted my WFS GSM, the first operation was to install CWM to the recovery partition. You might find the first part of my post helpful (then again...)
I'm just exhausted with the following problem i'm having with my Wildfire S. I've followed various procedures with the intention of installing Cyanogen but everything just stops dead at the same point, which is where I attempt to boot my phone into recovery. I'll list below everything I've done so far:
1) Unlocked the bootloader by visiting HTCDev.com, I flashed my Hboot to the correct version, which is "1.09.0099_2.13.401.3_0210_R"
2) did the Identifier token thing successfully too, phone rebooted and factory reset itself.
3) used Unlock Root to root the phone, worked perfect. Phone rebooted and Super User was on my application list.
4) Installed Rom Manager from Google play, Proceeded to flash CWM Recovery to 5.0.2.8, Super User popup appeared asking to to grant root access and confirmed.
5) Copied CM zip file and Google apps zip file to the root of my MicroSD card.
6) Rebooted into the bootloader (Vol down + Power) and selected recovery
This is where it just stops dead, I get a white screen with the HTC logo and it just stops like this forever unless I pull battery out/in and turn on. Phone will boot into Android no problem.
No matter how many times I try booting into Recovery, it will just stop on the white screen with the HTC Logo.
Rebooting into recovery via ROM Manager does the same.
I have flashed a stock ROM back on the phone several times and a system update becomes available which resets the HBoot back to the original version which allows me to retry the entire process. I have tried various different ways to root the phone which all are successful and still the phone freezes when I try to enter recovery at the same point in the procedure.
Please, anyone, help me with this, I have no idea what is going wrong or what to do next
Thanks guys
White screen Appears in 4 conditions...
1.your device is not properly rooted.(some rooting tools are failing with new Htc wildfires)
2.when a custom rom is ported and device is relocked by the user.
3.Recovery img is not installed correctly.
4.RUU updated is not correct.
In your case number one is applied i think.
if still problem is on try unlockroot (tool) with fresh RUU.

With ROM Manager you can REflash Clockworkmod, maybe that works?
